LDO Paper Bag of Issue Identification

Two days ago, I picked up a number of German medals, badges and three paper bags of issue. One bag is simply marked LDO on the front and has a regulation printed on the reverse regarding the production of orders and awards. Is this a general-issue packet that could be used for multiple awards or was it for a specific medal of a specific maker? If it's for a specific badge, I'm wondering if I have it among the medals and badges I bought. Thanks in advance!

Original packet, could be used for just about every medal/badge.

Nice LdO packet, Barry. Can we see the other two packets you picked up?

      Best regards,

          Hi Barry,

Thanks so much for posting pictures of your other two packets. I really like the S&L Black Wound Badge packet. But the 1939 War Merit Medal packet is a bit of a mystery for me. I like the look of the paper, but the medal designation on the front is not what I'm used to seeing on War Merit Medal packets. That style of lettering is definitely atypical IMO. I also find it odd the the lower portion of the maker marking was covered over by the bottom fold-over flap. And they really botched the city name Lüdenscheid on that marking. (Maybe that is why it was covered over by the bottom flap.)

You may want to check out the following thread. It shows another War Merit Medal packet by Overhoff & Cie of Lüdenscheid. The city name on this one is botched up too.

You may also wish to check out this other thread which shows a Black Wound Badge packet by Overhoff & Cie. The city name on this packet is spelled correctly, but the company name was misspelled Oberhoff instead of the proper Overhoff.

I hope others will respond concerning your War Merit Medal packet. Despite the oddities I see with that packet I think it could still be a good one.

          Best regards,
          Tom
