Hi Guys !
Have you ever seen a badge like this one ?
I found this in a Norwegian NS newspaper from 06.10.1944 .
Can someone tell my something of this one .
Norwegian text : " Der fuhrer has instituted this badge for snippers in army and SS-division .

Lillegutt : Very nice find. this may have been a prototype design as the only ones I have seen are without text. They are cloth badges not metal and they were worn on the right cuff above any other insignia that was to be worn there. It consists of a grey oval with a black eagle's head with a yellow beak and yellow eyes above three light green oak leaves and one acorn.There are three class's the 1st. has a gold cord surround, the 2nd. has a silver cord and the 3rd. has no cord surround. Hope this helps.

According to Peter Senich in his book "The German Sniper 1914-1945" on page 150, this 1943 design was deemed too distinctive and never came to be.

Snippers badge

Hi All !
Thanks for info about this "snippers badge" .
Like you , the only snipper badge I have seen pics. of has been without text and in cloth version . That`s why I put in this pic. that I found in the newspaper .
For some years ago I buyed Norwegian University Librarys collection of Norwegian NS ( Nazi Party ) nasjonal newspaper . About 1300 newspapers . From sept. 1940 to mars 1945 .
I found this pic. in one of them when i was hunting for an article about Norwegians only recipient of the German Cross in Gold .
