    Hey Guys,

    Real or fake?

    To me it looks fake.
The scratches on the back look "added"

SO, please let me know what you think.
Perhaps one like this has been seen before.
Anyway, any information would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    JON

I think that is the original badge.

I'm no S&L expert, let alone PABs, but IMO, it stands a good chance at being original, but late war or possibly post war. The lack of the elongated barrel hinge and catch base, leaves me thinking, the hardware, either is "improvised" or a later period addition. If that's spray-paint on the catch? then the finish is likely a bogus repaint. A closer look at your catch should reveal more. Wait for more specialist replies.

          Hi Henley,

Ken is correct, this is an S&L badge. It has all the attributes of being "wartime compatible" and quite possibly wartime made, but with S&L you can never be sure since they continued to produce postwar.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

For me a good late war PAB. These most likely were made by S&L, if I remember correctly.

              Hi Jon

The pics are not the best, but the details look to be there.

For me it looks to be an original badge in very nice condition.

The scratches could have occurred at any time since manufacture, and badges often show up with such markings.

              regards
              Graeme

I agree with the others, a fine S&L piece!
                  Kind regards,
