    Just spent ages going through old threads on these and have reached the conclusion that this is a copy.
    Am i correct?

        ...for the following reasons (from a previous thread):-

        "This probably was finished in a very similar way to the originals at one point, which would have given it quite a convincing appearance at first glance. These fakes come in various levels of quality from a very well constructed die-struck version to a cast of a cast of a cast of the die-striking, but I can't tell from the photos whether yours is a striking or a first generation casting.
        The pebbling on these is also quite convincing, but I personally find it a wee bit too regimented compared with originals. The wreath is one of the first red flags for me with this particular family of repros in so much as the outward sweeping (acanthus or laurel???) leaves between each oakleaf segment of the wreath, present on all other 8 year SS-DAs, are conspicuous by their absence. The suspension loop is close to the two forms of original teardrop loops, but it is far to wide at the narrow end to be a convincing example of either. As for the eyelet, the pics are too small for me to make yours out, but these fakes normally come with an exact match for ether a Type I or a Type II eyelet. The dishing of both the obverse and reverse faces of these medals is quite extreme, giving rise to excessively high relief to the detailing...which brings me to the lettering on the reverse; Many other people don't seem to get it, but the lettering is pretty crude and amateurish and speaking from thirty plus years as a professional signwriter who has been trained in humanistic lettering, this just doesn't cut it with me. The first time I saw one of these medals, the inscription jumped out at me as having been created by someone who treated lettering as a branch of practical geometry rather than an aspect of artistic expression. This has resulted in a very regimented and soul-less appearance to the inscription which is totally contrary to any of the other SS-Service award, or indeed, arguably any other Third Reich awards. The Runes themselves aren't really too bad, but are probably a bit on the dumpy side and could do with a slightly more obtuse angle to the beveled edge."
