    Silber Nahkampfspange, 6 dot, named

    Hi guys,
This is my latest find, a 6 dot Nahkampfspange in silber with carrier name & fieldpost number scratched into the backplate .''Oblt Rothe 09235''

Named to Ritterkreuz Trager Leutenant Friedrich Rothe
Fielpostnr 17804 C/09235 Panzer Grenadier Regiment
    Rittterkreuz 17/03/1945 Deutsche Kreuz 22/03/1945
Last Leader of 6./Pz Gren 93

I've found cross references to Rothe but no photo as yet, hopefully one will turn up. I find the DK awarded 5 days after the RK interesting, makes me wonder what he did that warranted a DK so soon but not oaks. Not sure why but the photo's look a bit out of focus but but look OK before upload, Hope you like, looks gorgeous in hand.

Very nice find Jon, these are quite hard to find in the silver grade. The vet inscription is just icing on the cake

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Congrats, great silver example , great detective work traced on that FP number . That would make it the only etched one I have seen, very nice....

I regret letting one of these silver 6 dots go a few years ago. Had a very nice blue.. backplate if recall correctly. It was not named

Thank you for the comments I've been concentrating on CCC's lately & I particularly wanted a 6 dot, hard to imagine 30 days of close combat for this. The information came with the clasp from Weitze's all I found out myself so far was his first name but I have found Rothe mentioned on several RK Tragers lists and Axis history forum. WW2 awards have him listed but they only have mention of his DK so I will send the information to update . I am forever the optimist so I'm hoping there may be some other awards of Rothe's marked like this.
Here are three of the links that mention him Giel, just have to say, very nice screw back EK1 spange you have at the moment, I haven't seen seen the two piece screw back before.
