This one stopped my heart 2 years ago at the SOS, thought I found a gem but noticed the catch repair and put it back down. A year later, Dave Wyatt found the same one and bought it, only to show it to me a little later in the show where I gave him the bad news. Looks like you were the latest victim.
A very hard to see repair, but if you look at a side view of the catch, you can see the shape is not correct and that was the first red flag for me. Then, if you look close right at the bottom of the new catch, you can see the original solder from the original catch.
Sad thing is, both I and Dave told the seller that the catch was a replacement, so he must have blatantly disregarded our observations and sold it without mentioning the repair

p.s., Graeme, very good eagle eye you have! Its a very well done repair and one that was hard to spot even in hand. Well done.

Uh oh!! Looks like I wasn't the only one fooled by this one. At least you didn't get fooled twice!!Last edited by Dave Wyatt; 03-05-2014, 01:49 PM.
