    GAB opinions

I'm going through my older pieces that I picked up before the forum and evaluating them with my new found knowledge...which isn't much

I'm not thinking the situation looks good on this GAB ? anyone else?

    Thank you for your opinions

That certainly looks like an original RS GAB to me. The flashing around the grenade and bayonet is normal dure to a die shift. Also no problem with round letters being on wartime badges.

It also looks original to me as well . What was you specific issue with this badge.

      Best Regards

      Mike

P.S. If you still think its bad, I'll give $5 for this repro

Sorry Guys but this is definitely a fake.

This is what the hinge on an original RS should look. No exceptions as far as I'm aware.

The upper portion of the hinge mount is what concerned me, but, and no disrespect meant (I'm just trying to figure this out), I don't see the difference I was expecting in Phillipe's post. I'll try and get a photo of the hinge at an angle to illustrate my concerns. Maybe these help? The construction of the "mount" in the first photo is what has concerned me..... I think the lower clasp being bent is a legitamate effect, but overall I dont feel right about this one.

Here is one more of these fakes. Would you think the fakers had problems attatching pins to these badges?

It appears as though the hinge assembly was cast into the badge posted by Ardennes and in the 2nd badge posted by Philippe, while the original was not cast into the badge. Is that correct Philippe?

Correct Harry, this is what the original hinge should look like.

ah ha! that makes it clear-er

Phillipe - I'd wager that your 2nd pictured fake and mine came from the same bag!
