Well guys, I don't think this issue has been discussed deeply enough to reach a conclusion on these cloth CCC's, and I was wondering what other examples there are out there. I have this silver CCC, and I had it blacklight tested and it did pass the test, so I'm just puzzled whether these are real or not. What are your opinions?

Hi Besian,
Some say these are all bogus, some say SOME are original. It is very hard to tell for sure, because also the guaranteed repros of these look very well made and aged. If these are copies, they have been around for quite some time.
Buying one without provenance (for an expensive price) equals suicide in my opinion.Cheers, Frank

never seen it
Hello,
Not only have I never seen these before, but I have never seen a period photo of one being worn. This looks like it is of good quality, but that is not to say anything for sure.
Thanks.

The cloth CCC shown in this thread is a fantasy piece. It is absolutely, beyond any shadow of a doubt a postwar fake, and a recent one at that. These first came out about 15 years ago, and even Manions sold them as copies in the beginning. The cloth KVK matches in construction the few known original EK1's in cloth, and there are photographs of the cloth EK1 in wear. I believe it to be real. A few other badges were produced in cloth, including the LW ground combat badge, the three grades of the wound badge (which were printed rather than embroidered), the DKG and the various LW qual badges (FJ, pilot, etc). However, the CCC was never produced in cloth during the war, period.

As I stated before, it doesn't react to blacklight, and I don't think that such an item if it was planned as a fantasy one to be paid so much attention to detail. I bought this with a bunch of other cloth badges (Pilot's badge & destroyer's badge). About two years ago I found this picture somewhere on the net, however I don't remember from where. As you can see, the person who owns these CCCs is missing only a CCC silver in cloth version to complete his collection.Attached Files
