With all the great detective work being done, and the resulting progress in identification, I was thinking that maybe this IAB might find itself a place in the heirarchy of production to an identified maker.
The badge is finished in a lustrous silver, and the swaz is polished out so it absolutely gleams. My thoughts are that the badge is probably made in high quality zinc, judging from the thickness (compared to buntmetal versions) and the simple soldering of the catch without a plate.
The badge came from a grouping, and was a second of two identical badges. The one that stayed with the grouping was in one of those "swirley-colored" boxes. This leads me to believe that both were most likely privately purchased.
Enjoy!
