    Infantry Assault Badges

    Hi guys,

Went to a small military show today and bought my first pieces for the new year. Among the items I bought were these three, reasonably-priced IABs:

An Otto Schickle-design, die-stamped badge in zinc; a Gebrüder Wegerhoff badge in zinc; and a Carl Wild badge in zinc, with a pretty nice finish remaining.

    Hope you like them!

    Best regards,
    Tom

Nice looking badges. I especially like the Carl Wild. I have always like his design.

                    Hi Tom,

Nice additions, especially the Carl Wild IAB. The Schickle and GWLs are a bit more common to find, but both are always nice quality.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I agree, very nice additions! The CW would also be my favorite!
                      Kind regards,

                        Hi Tom

I can only echo what has been said...three nice originals.

The Carl Wild variant is what I refer to as the Design Type - Die 1 having the "wider" CW stacked maker mark.
Along with very subtle leaf vein differences, the Type 1 sheet metal hinge base also fits precisely inside the raised guide lines for the hardware.

Here are the two maker mark variations.

                        Best Regards, fischer

Thanks for the additional comments, Ralph, Tom, Giel, and Fischer.

                            Hi Fischer,

Thanks for the info on the Carl Wild IABs. As it just so happens, I have another IAB by Carl Wild and it is the type you describe as "type 2". Here are a few pictures. This one has been my collection for at least 30 years.

                            Best regards,
                            Tom
