Hmmm, I don't know about this one. At first glance it look like an unmarked Brehmer and the base metal looks OK, but the hardware gives me a bad feeling. I am skeptical on this one...

Thanks Tom and Daniel for your replies. Someone told me it's an original Gustav Brehmer but with a repaired catch, while others said it is a post war fake! I am at a loss. So further opinions are welcome.

The catch is definitely not Brehmer, although it could be replaced. However, the hinge and pin don't look correct either and it would be odd that everything is replaced so that is why I am questioning this one.

Can you provide a good, clear closeup of the obverse and reverse with pin open?

Also an angled shot of the hinge with the pin open.

This is one of those badges that on first glance has that very original look to it, but when you see the reverse you see that it is not "textbook". This is not always a problem, but with this badge, as Tom pointed out, the hinge AND catch are not what we are used to seeing on this design. The catch plate looks sloppily applied, one of the pics shows it very raised at the bottom end. The obverse has quite a few small dents over the badge, and a couple areas including the eagles head are not so detailed. With the above points, and the fact that the cutouts as seen from the reverse are not as crisp as they could be, you find a lot of reasons to point a finger at the badge. And then you might even feel that it may have been artificially aged.

I think your badge is trying to be one of these. At least you can compare it to yours.
