Im not sure if this one is a relic, or just been there done that, definately has had work done on the hinge, but hows the rest look?

would this be bronze and just coverd in oxidiseation?

Nope, that would be zinc covered by oxidation. This looks like a genuine IAB that has fallen prey to the elements.

Looks to me that the poor little guy has been jerked out of his coffin.... Can you imagine how many of his brothers are still out there?

That just makes me think of how may of the IAB and countless other third reich awards have been thrown in the garbage as "nazi junk" by family members going through veterns belongings after they pass away

Stop the damage with a light coat of vaseline. Apply it for 20 minutes, then carefully wipe it off. It should do a lot to preserve it.
