A good one or a fake one???

    Hi,

I would like to ask if this is a genuine Juncker piece or not?

The backplate is non magnetic, also the needle, but in Thomas Durantes well known book, this type should have a magnetic needle.

Thank you for your help in this points.

I am not sure with this clasp. The obverse details are very soft (parts of the bayonet and grenade, also the eagle).

On the other hand i like the pin and the non magnetic backplate is also a good sign.Crimping of the backplate is looking also good imo.

I tend to a original one,but how i mentioned,i am not sure with this clasp!

Tom can for sure say more!

      Regards
      Joachim

        Hi Joachim,

Thank you so far, the same with me, its really not so easy with this clasp, what makes me confusing is the non magnetic pin!

So I have to wait for Tom, lets see what comes out at the end!

        Kind regards

Tough one for me. The obverse makes me think the base metal is something other than zinc, like a cast metal, but it may be worn and the pics are deceiving me. The back gives me some assurance, but I think I will need to see this one in hand, to draw a better conclusion.

If you can give better pics in natural light, that may help me; unless some of the other fellas can determine based on these pics alone.

Thank you for your responses here, I also tend to say it is a postwar piece, lets wait for Tom.

Oh, I am sorry, i got no further pictures in the moment

                Hi guys,

Looks like a fine original to me. I really like the look of the base metal, the finish and also the backplate looks perfectly correct IMO. The fact that it is non-magnetic is also a very good sign.

It is true that this type of Juncker typically is found with a magnetic pin, but Juncker's other CCC variants can be found with non-magentic pins so it is logical to think that there would be some overlap between hardware and variants IMO. There is not always a destinction between variants and exact same reverse hardware, after all to Juncker......a pin was probably just a pin and they didn't care if it was made from steel or tombak.

No problems for me on this clasp, a fine original "transitional" piece.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I need a distraction, so I can run away :P at least I didn't completely write it off I just needed to convince myself still.

Glad this turned out to be a good one. Tom knows his stuff!!

And given this, it's a nicely conditioned one.

I like the hardware and the bubbling to the finish.
