Interesting "11" mark. Thanks for posting

Do you know of any other GABs with this mark?

Grossman wound badges marked "11", of which there are many examples, have a different style of "11".

I would like to see a few more examples before linking Grossman to this GAB and possibly other connections.

          best regards
          Graeme

Spot on Graeme, my thoughts exactly.

With that said, I like the look of the stamp, its nice and deep compared to some of the other "questionable" stamps that are done very lightly. And the fact that the GAB is indeed a Vienna design as JJS states is another good indicator that this marking could be legitimate. But just one example is not enough to say either way. Just like finding 1 badge in a marked packet is no sure bet of a connection to that maker, we need a few other examples before they could be connected with a high degree of certainty.

Thanks for showing this and something to keep in mind for future discoveries.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I do not know of any other GABs with this maker mark. For that matter, this type of badge -- whether marked or unmarked -- isn't common. As noted, I bought it from from Frank Heukemes back in 2009; he might know more about its provenance.

To me these points are relevant:
              1) Its a Vienna design of an unknown maker
              2) Grossman & Co was based in Vienna
              3) Frank H. is a renowned GAB expert and not a purveyor of fakes.
              4) Is the "11" mark spurious? Maybe, maybe not. I didn't put it there, and I'm sure Frank didn't either.

Put all this together, and the marked badge is a badge I am pleased to have in my very extensive GAB collection.

Unmarked examples like Wayne's are not all that common for that matter. They pop up from time to time, but only occasionally. The "evidence base" is therefore limited.
So, in summary, there is probably more detective work needed before everyone can state definitively that these badges were made by Grossman.

But meanwhile, I like Wayne's badge...and mine as well.
