    Heer Flak Badge by R.S.

Does the pin strike anyone as being odd on this badge? I feel it is okay, but some have suggested it has been replaced, but how if it is true.

    Thanks.

      Hi Dan,

Looks like a good one to me. Dificult to give comments in the pin without seeing it in profile.

Dan, I agree with Philippe, from the pix the piece looks good...Souval sometimes had pins that extended down below the badge, you see this a lot with the destroyers, John

Also, the pin should be stiff and not bend easily...RS used steel pins, but sometimes replaced pins will be of a flimsy material that bends easily, John

This is a magnetic and stiff pin, John. I have maintained from the beginning that the badge is good and the pin is just fine. If you cross reference the GAB by Souval, you find the same hinge and pin construction.

Here is the back of my GAB by RS. It looks to be the same. However, I would like to see a better shot of the catch.

              Thanks,
              Eric

Did you buy this badge from Manions recently? Looks identical to one I returned to them and they relisted , does the badge get thin towards the bottom of the badge.

I can answer your questions when the badge gets here. I don;t think it does.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful. The badges are not the same, of that I am sure.

                  Dan.

I have this badge again after the fellow who had it traded it up for a LW badge. After carefully examing the pin on the Souval flak badge, the pin has been replaced. I placed the pin in profile it swings back and forth like a pendelum. So long as I have learned something new out of the experience, I don't feel quite so bad, but am ready to put this all behind me.

Thanks to all who helped me in this. And to Ian, the badge is the same as the one you had I am sure now.

It is a real war-time Souval, but a poor pin replacement.

                    Dan.
