This indeed is a late war so called Zimmerman with the vertical crimp. Obverse detailing is still very strong on these badges but for the rest there quality is only a shadow of what it ones was.

IMO this probaly is the next before last crimped Zimmermann on which they used left over hinges that can also be found on some of their very early hollow buntmetall badges.

The very last as far as I'm concerned is the horizontal oval crimp. On some of these badges (silver in my picture) you can find very crude wrap arround hinges cut by hand from sheet metal. In this stages even the hinges disappeard and they used everything they could find to finish these badges. Same for the pin, nothing more than a piece of bend wire.
