The frosting on my boxed Infantry Assault Badge has changed/tarnished over time. The first two pictures were taken ten years ago when I purchased it. The rest of the pictures were taken today. The badge has been sitting in a display cabinet with the lid off the box. I would like some information on the badge. The area between the swaz and the bayonet is solid and not cut out like most other IAB are. Mike

Hello Mike,
thanks for posting the pictures!
Your IAB is one in FLL design. It was really an amzing badge ten years ago!. You can find them sometimes with a lot of the white frosted finish, but your example was just outstanding!!!
What a pitty that it has changed over time! When I see tha actual pictures I really would like to cry. Unfortunately we don't know why this happens to some badges, but you can see it from time to time.
Best regards
Sven

Sven, thanks for your reply. I tend to think that the badge must have originally been kept in the box without it ever being opened since the war until shortly before I purchased it. It began to noticeably change color within a year after being left with the lid off in my display cabinet. Also I believe the type without the cutout between the swaz and the bayonet must be very uncommon as I have only seen a few on the forum. Mike

I had a look on my three examples I had in my collection so far and you are right. All of my examples have the cut between the swatika and the rifle.

Hi Mike,
Fischer informed me that it's not an Egghead IAB. Thanks!!!
It's an IAB in FLL design. Sorry, I just had a look on the head and with the lot of finsih on the first pictures I really thought it's an Egghead. Sorry!!!
Some of my FLL IABs have no cut between the swastika and the rifle as well.
Best regards

where so you see a bronze JSF IAB or a grey cloud pattern box here? I agree with you that the JSF IAB in bronze you find in general in the small IAB bags, but I've never seen a crimped FLL IAB in the grey cloud pattern box. Most of the time you can find crimped BSW IABs or Juncker NS IABs in there. The shown box is a general sales box and you can find a lot of different IABs in it.

btw: Who is Ron? This piece was shown by Mike. Could it be that you've answered in the wrong thread?
