its not necesserily true that you get a better deal on the E stand. The sellers see the dealers selling at top prices and thinks, i want some of that. And charge top doller. I have just checked the prices on the E stand with J Cross site and theres no difference. Why go to some guy you dont know, when you can go to your dealer for the same price. and not get ripped off. that why no one buys from the E stand.

Hello Jamie
Are you saying that you are buying the dealer’s word that an item is good over a fellow collector? If you know your stuff it doesn’t matter where you get it from, ebay, etstand or your favourite dealer. No one is perfect and everyone, including your most beloved dealer will make mistakes. I believe the estand has a 30 day money back guarantee, so within that time you can examine the item for yourself and determine its authenticity. How many times have people been ripped off on the estand? I always shop around everywhere I can for my collection, I don’t just stick with the one dealer or source, shopping around gives me the best value for my money. Buy the piece, not the story nor the source.
Regards
Dez

E-stand is high, sure I understand this. Is the correct term "high" or the "fair market price." Is this forum a fast food joint or a several star forum. That is another debate in itself. I have seen a few higher end pieces move rather quickly. I also believe these items went so quickly because those that have followed this forum recognized the seller and their previous posts over the few years and respected their knowledge and integrity. A new commer will have a hell of a grilling selling something besides the common pieces especailly when he/she is not known to the group.
I have been here a while and have seen some things sell. However, in all honesty, I have found other avenues to move the few items I wish to part with. One of my requests with a sale is that I also have the first option to buy these back if ever they(the buyer) wish to sell at some later date. This collecting circle is big and it is also tight. Good luck with your sales, your items will find a buyer at some time.

Who said no one buys from the Estand?
I do, and obviously a lot of others do too, since I see some very nice items that I wish I could afford being snapped up at an alarming rate. Then again, I see some beautiful items, for killer prices that no one seems to want. Go figure.
I guess we are a fickle bunch.
I have only seen a couple things priced unreasonably, and even some of those came down in price. Most everything was priced right at market value if you ask me.
If you know what you are buying, what difference does it make who you buy it from? This false sense of comfort people derive from buying from a certain person is truly baffling. I have returned a badge with certificate to the dealer you mention. Are you saying that if the badge was 20% cheaper, you would buy it, but if is the same as a dealer, you wont?
In the end it is up to you to know what youre buying, so buck up and quit pouting that no one is giving it away. When you find someone who is, let me know.
Accidentally offending people on the internet since 1997

I have purchased a couple of real nice pieces from
the Estand, and for what I thought was a very fair price.
It is the first place I visit on the forum because the nice
pieces and the bargains sell quickly. The Estand, in my
humble opinion is a valuable asset to our forum.

"its not necesserily true that you get a better deal on the E stand. The sellers see the dealers selling at top prices and thinks, i want some of that. And charge top doller. "
1) a lot of Estand sellers payed top doller for their pieces and want to get the money back. Not everyone has access to "cheap buys"
2) I am one of the main culprits when it comes to high prices, but I dont NEED to sell, it is a question of if it is worth more to a potential buyer than it is to me. As I often know the stories, and stories are hard to sell, I often end up keeping the piece.
3) If someone buys, great, both of you are happy, if you dont reach an agreement, its fine as well, life goes on. Think of it as trying to pick up a girl, you are entitled to make an offer, she is entitled to refuse it, no hard feelings, her honour is worth more than your offer (I am sure you know the feeling )
4) As a seller you set the price that the piece is worth to you and you have to decide how long you are prepared to wait for a buyer. Its your business, and your business alone.
A friend has finally offered me a superb Piped officers 4 pocket jacket, mint condition, artillery for the Hoch and Deutschmeister Div, with 5 sets of epaulettes (I already have the guys helmet).
He wants $1500 for it. I say crazy price (to me) thanks but no thanks.
Am I pissed ? No, its what the piece is worth to him, obviously more than its worth to me.Last edited by Chris Boonzaier; 08-03-2002, 11:03 AM.
