    A MAX show find

Fresh back from the MAX show and it was great. Spent all day Friday and Saturday morning there. Lots of fakes, but did find a few good badges and a couple of excellent deals. One of my better finds was this AG/RO badge. Early nickel silver B&NL with most of its original finish. The wreath is nicely frosted and the high points burnished along with the burnished swastika. Remarkable how detailed the wreath is when you see the thickness of it.

Hi guys, thanks for the nice comments.

Richard, yes I am definately keeping this guy. I is a really good looking and high quality badge. It displays better than my Juncker (no offense Skip ) as the finish is almost completely intact on this one with the exception of the spotting.

                    Thanks guys

                      Hello Tom,

That is a very nice badge you picked up. Congratulations! Glad to see that you are expanding your collecting interests beyond the Nahkampfspangen. You are doomed, Tom. Hooked with no turning back now. Soon you will be totally out of control. It is however a great way to go. Wish I could have made the MAX Show. Looks like you had fun.
                      Best regards! Tom

Hi Tom, thanks for the comments (and warning ). It is nice to expand your horizons and take what you learn and actually apply it with confidence to buy a nice original piece.

I did have fun at the MAX. The only bad thing was not running into a lot of forumites. In that regard, the SOS is much better for that (I missed catching up with you, Seba, Calvin and Gary). Looking more forward to February after this show. Tim B., you better get your butt down to one of these shows .

                          Hey Tom,

How was the attendance at the show? There was alot of talk up here that the show might be a flop in North Carolina. Being a little selfish, I was hoping that it would be a flop so that they would move the show back, closer to my home.
                          Best regards! Tom

                            Hi Tom,

Attendence was the same as the SOS in my opinion. On Friday, I waited in line to get in for about 10 minutes. Saturday, there was no line, but the hall seemed more crowded for some reason. I saw about 5 dealer tables not being used, but that was about it. I know a few dealers and they all said they made some good sales (and this was early in the show on Friday). I heard some people talking about hoping they would move it back north, but no one really complaining. I saw a lot of cash changing hands and witnessed several 5K+ deals. I guess I should expect that, but didn't remember seeing that at the SOS. Overall I think it was a good location, easy to get to, and a good turn out.

I hope they keep it here next year (we can both be selfish ).

Tom, congrats on your new purchase. It is a lovely thing to look at! I hope to one day be able to attend the MAX with enough $ in the pocket to do some good shopping. Looks like you had a good one!
