Nice piece. Looks like you've been doing a little "local" hunting.

              Hi Stu,

Very nice original, a keeper for sure. Looks like yours has a brass undercoating under the silver finish, which is common to find on these IABs.

As Andy says, Juncker is a good candidate for these but none have ever been found marked unfortunately.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Thank you for your comments Gentlemen, Thomas you are of course correct, the seller attributed this badge to Juncker but it has no maker marks. Its certainly a high quality piece.
Would such quality put this in the time frame of an Early war piece? Or would the manufacturers continue to make badges to the same kind of standards throughout the war?

                Thanks in advance,

                Stuart.

If made by Juncker, there were two variants in the silver grade (the nickle/brass & the hollow zinc), made prior to yours, so its probably mid-late war. The fact yours has a richly applied copper undercoat, may, place it among the "early" of it's "type". This is sort of an off-shoot from Deschler's design and there was an "unknown" that combined both.
