        Original with almost all finish missing. Based on a small speck I see on the under side of the pin and hinge, I think it has a shot at being a silver originally.

          Agree. Based on the color and patina, especially the pin, I'd say an original silver grade, with most of the wash-type finish absorbed or faded to time.
