New AGMuK ccc, backlplate replaced ?

Hi, need some opinion if the backplate is replaced or messed with ? Think the ccc itself is a worn original.

    Thanks for looking, regards Jürgen

        Hi Jurgen,

The plate looks very good to me. Correct size and edges and even the base metal and finish look correct for this type of clasp (1.5.2 in the CCC book). I see where the bottom left crimp looks a little dinged up, so I can understand your question. However, I am confident that the plate itself is OK and correct. I wouldn't have a problem with this clasp in my collection.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I agree with Tom. There's a little "lift" on the top left and right, but looks hardly played with. The backplate shows consistent wear to the rest of the clasp, and is original to the badge, for this maker and variation. Other than that, it has a great finish and intact hardware -getting farther and fewer between.
