    CCC some thoughts on backplates

    1.2 CCC

We know the 1.1 can have blue backplates.
This is a 1.2. Pictures are without flash , lights in the room were on.

I've been pondering over this backplate and had some thoughts about them. The use of blue plates seems so strange to me.

I've also seen backplates of other makers that were black on the front, but blue in the back (f. i. RS) (blued steel)
(Made me wonder if not some were inserted backwards by accident?)

I'd also occured to me how really odd it is that 1.1 has a blue plate. i mean, all official wartime descriptions clearly say an NKS has a black backplate. All makers made them in black. How is it possible that one maker just does his own thing and uses blue?
I dont believe it myself, but one would almost wonder if the blue backplates were ordered by the LW for their paratrooper and LW field divisions.

A bit a chaotic post possibly. I wonder what you think.

It gave different colours of backplates by the differnet makers.Your pics are to small,to say details to the backplate of your clasp.

I think you might be onto something, with the connection on the "blue plates" and the Luftwaffe. I don't recall seeing them on Juncker, FLL etc., so it might be possible AGMuK got a Luftwaffe contract to produce them. Maybe some wartime photos, would help -maybe not color, but atleast a maker.

You can also find ccc`s attributed to "Deschler",with a blue backplate.

Great, so it's possible that Deschler may have gotten a Luftwaffe contract too. Another medal for consideration would be the Iron Cross. Ever notice that some C.F. Zimmermann have more "blue tint" in the paint? That's one company, but I'm sure others too...

Sorry about the pictures, not sure what went wrong.

Please lets leave the EK's out of this, you must mean blued core Ek's. I' ve seen some nice 1914 ones. There is no link to be found there i'm sure.

Going by the info. in T. Durante's 2007 book, she's a 1.2.2 with the thinner crimps. BTW, that book is an excellent resource and makes sense of the timeline structure -especially on this maker.

                Hi guys,

This plate looks to have a "gun blueing" on it, which we also sometimes fine on some AGMuK and Deschler CCCs as was mentioned. While I agree that there is a shade of blue in there, it is much darker than the "aqua blue" plates that are used on the 1.1 AGMuK CCCs in my opinion.

For reference, here is my agua-blue plate.

Coincidentally??, the Luftwaffe did have a deeper shade of blue on the M40 helmet, in comparison to the earlier M35.

                    Your clasp is very nice!

However the blue backplates was sometimes used,i think there was no special background to "Luftwaffe" units.

But this clasp`s of course very nice.I have also one.

                      ...and

...and I think these "blue backplate" types have a chance at being Luftwaffe contract pieces. Here's my Juncker, without the "blue" backplate -which Juncker never made in the "blue".

                        Hi guys,

Ken, your guess is as good as mine. But I doubt it had much to do with a special clasp just for Luftwaffe guys. Who know though, anything is possible.

Ever notice, the "Ehremaligen" condition the blue backplates types commonly seem to turn up in, compared to FLL or Juncker? Might have something to do with the branch of service they were issued too. Worthy of further research IMO.

                            Sweet claps guys!

edit: Yes it is darker paint then the 1.1's, no doubt about that.
