    Opinions needed on Silver PAB25

    Hello gentlemen

This one was offered to me, but before considering purchase, I would like to hear other opinions!

The pictures were taken under "field" conditions soo therfore they are not as good as I wished. I forgot to measure it but the weight are 31,3 gr.

    Cheers Thomas

            Hi Thomas,

From what I can see (the pics aren't that great), it also think it appears to be genuine.

              Thanks Gentlemen

Nice to have all the pros at hand The only thing that bothered me are that the metal the numberplate is made of didn't look like gilded or buntmetal - lets just say yellow as it usually does? Maybe it was just the bad light? Comments very welcome!

              Cheers Thomas

                Hi Thomas,

As far as I know, the number box was also zinc, not buntmetal. The recessed area of the number box appears to have the correct black finish but it's not uncommon for JFS 25/50 examples the high points to loose their bronze (not gilt) finish. I'd be more concerned with an RK that HAS bronze highlights to the number box that a JFS that doesn't!

                Regards

                  Hi Thomas,

I concur with Mike nothing to worry about, infact the number box retains probably more finish than you think. Even on well preserved badges the number boxes on these JFS's tend to loos there finish fast.

Here is another example of such a number box.

                    Thanks again Gentlemen

One last thing - the JFS MM looks a bit off centered, and after studying the old threads I cant figure out wether "mine" is off centered and if thats bad?

Can anyone supply me with the weight of one of your PAB 25.

Soory for keep asking questions after you have been so kind to offer me your opinions - I'm just beeing paranoid.

                    Cheers Thomas

                        Hi Thomas,

Don't get paranoid, there is nothing wrong with the mm.

In relation to the weight I can only tell you that my bronze one comes in at 35 grams on my not so exact scale, so the actual weight could be anything between 34,6 and 35,5.

                          OK by me...

Detail to the tank has everything I look for. Pin shape, length and mounting hinge/position are consistent with originals I've handled and I details I have on file. Number box looks fine to me as well. Rivets and impressions look correct. Maker's mark looks a little "blotchy", but I cannot fault this badge, strictly on this point.

                            Hi Thomas,

Looks good to me, too. The number boxes on both my 25s (one marked JFS and one unmarked JFS-style) are zinc. The JFS mark is sometimes found not exactly centered, but as long as it's not squashed up all the way against the right side I think it's OK. I can provide the weights of mine tonight at home.

@ Philippe - nice looking 50 box there!

                            Regards,
