Dear Jon,

It seems like the "digger" liked to mark his findings with white ink. He wrote down where he found it and 1945 - 1991 maybe designates the timespan this item slept in the earth???

I have an M.K.3 ground dug IAB and in exactly the same state .

Looks fine to me for an M.K.1 and groundug.The corrosion characteristics are correct for this type of zink.
