Well it's been a while since I first posted this IAB, and became familiar with the term "Porsche" in terms of this unknown maker. I am returning to the topic now that I have spent some time researching IAB's(not that I know that much more then I did a few months ago). I am hoping for some help on trying to link this badge with a maker. I have compared this badge to hundreds of pics of other badges from various makers and I'm still drawing a blank . However, I have come to some conclusions or rather points on this badge that I think I should focus on in terms of comparison. The eagles head is very distinctive and I can't really match it up with any maker I have seen examples of. Also the fifle is thin and sleek when compared to most other makers. The only similiar rifles I can find are made by L10,O.M., and it is also somewhat similiar to the "4" attributed to Assman. Finally, the finish is in an extremely light bronze which I haven't seen on any other IAB. Does anyone have a clue who the "Porsche" maker is? Or am I destined to stare at it and wonder for the rest of my days

Hi Greg,
Sorry to disapoint you but this isn't the "Porsche" IAB. The "Porsche" IAB does exist though but untill know I never brought it up. The "Porsche" PAB started enough confusion already and Frank would probably kill me if I linked Porsche to an IAB.
Only recenty Frank an I discussed the an article covering the first offical award of the IAB, not only featuring the recipient but also the badge. We both came to the conclusion that that badge most likely would have been the "Porsche" (oops now I did it again) IAB. When you do some research it's easy to find out who officialy was the first manufacturer of both the IAB and the PAB.
The manufacturer of you IAB is unknown. Its one of only two IAB variants that share 3 uncommon features
1. broad cut-out between swas and K98
2. Slim looking K98
3. profiling of the K98 in the cut-out between Rifle an swas, visible from the reverse.
The most commonly encountered of the 2 is the badge you posted, the other, also by an unknown maker, is this variant.
