Both fake. Don't know the pedigree, but take a look at the eagle heads... Yuck!

Well, that's disappointing. Good point about the eagle heads - now that you pointed it out, I can see how bad they look. Gotta learn to pay more attention to the tell-tale details.

          Thanks for letting me know!

You're lucky. Some of us grew up in the days without the internet, not to mention a slew of other resources. Anyway, glad you see the lack of workmanship/quality in the eagle heads. Also, the legs remind me of Christmas tree tops for some reason. See pics...

Each have their own faults as well!

The first one [darker one], shown has a good-looking 'fluted' pin. Terrible 'bird' as you say but, I also noticed the 'swastika' is not evenly formed. It is wider on some portions instead of being identical in it's width.

The second one has nice detailing in the acorns & leaves. Terrible 'bird' as you say & has a decent looking swastika. I don't like how the cut-out area cut into the eagle's wings & damaged the lower portion of both wings.

So, there are even more points to look for when we inspect the Close Combat Clasp!

Hey Ron. You're totally right, and IMO, these are older fakes, which makes them a little more inconspicuous -at 1st glance. I recommend Tom's book or you can do a search here and find the original "AGMs" that these are trying to imitate.

                  --Take care, Ken
