      Hi Shane,

Looks OK to me. The finish looks a little odd. Is the clasp zink? It looks like zink from here, but the pics aren't the best. Obverse is closest to Souval, but has a F&BL reverse setup. Overall, I think it is good, nothing screams out fake to me.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

        Hey Tom,

Yes teh clasp is Zinc, nothing screams out fake to me either but want as many opinions as I can get. Looks to me like it is Fein Zinc possibly with a clearcoat?

        Any opinions? Thanks!

          Hello Shane,

I don't think I like the look of this clasp. Looking at the reverse, the recessed area for the backing plate is not centrally placed on the clasp. It is not centered top and bottom, nor right and left. Looks very odd to me. Too low and to the right. Also the crimps do not appear like they are actually holding in the backing plate, especially on the left side. Is that backing plate loose at all? I agree with Tom D. that the attachment hardware looks pretty good and very similar to F&BL. Pretty well detailed on the front, with a lot of veining to the oakleaves. The veining however looks too pronounced in my opinion. I do not like the look of the bayonet (blade & hilt). I also think the color and sheen of the piece look off, but that might be because of a lacquer top coat.
          Best regards! Tom

            Hey Shane

Sorry but IMO this is not a good silver CCC, it may be the photo but everything looks to bulky. It would be interesting to see what others have to say.

The Veining on the leaves is what was on my mind too. I have not yet purchased this piece as I was waiting for opinions on this, anyone else?

              Thanks to all!

Whoever the powers that be are with the CCC series please feel free to charm in! I would like to buy this one if she gets the thumbs up. Again I like it but have streatched my wealth of knowledge to the limits and with fakes being what they are these days I'd like to be sure!

Anyone else with the clearer pics?

                          Thanks!

                            Dear Shane,

You cannot get a better expertise than from the "Two Toms". My opinion pretty much sums up their differing opinions:

It MAY be ok but you should not buy it. There are so many known types of CCCs around that one does not have to mess around with such an uneasy item. The bayonet looks very weird indeed, so does the plate. I would invest my money otherwise (also think about the massive resale problems you might have), even if this one should be cheaper than most.
                            Cheers, Frank

Thanks to everyone who has replied! I truely am grateful for your advice.

Frank you are very right about hte resale! Since I never intend to sell any of my colletion I had not thought of that, but it still is a VERY real problem if I ever DO have to sell.

Thanks to the Two Tom's, and I hope to see you all around these parts again soon!

                              Best Wishes!

                              -Shane
