I recieved a flyer from Bender Publishing and noticed a new publication named "The Awards of the Heer" by D.Maerz and B. Hartmann. It's a little pricey and I wanted a consensus on if it's worth getting. Thanks.

As to the quality you have to wait until one of the owners here gives his opinion.

Hi John,
Here is a review of the book:
http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=awards+heer
I have the book and think it is great, a must have even for the experienced collector. Its not a book that shows EVERY variant and EVERY maker of all these awards, but rather a broad brush overview of what each badge was awarded for, its exact award regulations, and some examples of each one. Also covers documents, cases, minis, etc. Its an all-around good book and I would recommend it.
TomIf it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a littleNew Book - The German Close Combat Clasp of World War II

The Heer book is the first in a "general" series of books on medals of the Armed Forces of the TR. I place "general" in quotes since the book goes far beyond a general reference by delving into many of the variations of badges/awards presented to the Heer. For many years Angolia's For Fuhrer and Fatherland was considered the entry level book for TR badges and, to a certain extent, is still an excellent resource for overall badge/award information.
This excellent reference book will now serve as a successor to Angolia's work and as a prelude to other more specialized books such as Durante's CCC book, Garlasco's Flak book, Heukemas GAB book etc.
(I am in no way affiilated with BDM Publications and I am sure you will hear the same reviews from others)
