    Infantry Assault Badge

    Hi guys,

This looks like one of the so-called "broken stem" Infantry Assault Badges. I got this one today at a local gun show for $15, sold as a repro. I think I did good on this one, didn't I?

Thanks for any and all opinions.

    Best regards,
    Tom

          Thank you Patrick and Sven.

It's deals like this that keep me going back to the gun shows. This badge is so shiny that it is hard to photograph. It is absolutely mint in-hand and the photos do not do it justice. I took some photos on a black background for more contrast. What appears to be dark areas on the reverse are actually as shiny as the rest of the badge. It's just that the surface grinder marks on those two areas run vertical, whereas they run horizontal across most of the reverse.

          Best regards,
          Tom

            Nice

Congrats, very nice score. It's finish reminds me of the FZZ Silver Fizzy IABs.

Super nice deal, congrats on finding this one.

The lines on the reverse are a known trait of the so-called flat-back Broken Stem variant.

              Best Regards, fischer

Very nice addition Tom, heck of a price

These flatbacks do have some great finish on them, and as Don says the scratches on the reverse are very typical of this maker, whoever he was. The left-facing catch is also a trait of this maker. These flatbacks can be found in all branches (LW, Heer and Kriegs), so they must have been a large producer and one of the bigger names in the business.

                        Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                            Thank you!

My thanks to everyone for the comments.

The guy that sold me this badge said that he had just sold three other "repro" badges about twenty minutes earlier. I would have sure liked to see those three other "repros".

                            Best regards,
                            Tom
