I have just come by this Ground Assault Badge. There is a mark on the back which says Gb, Is it a good one or a bad one. It has been through the wringer as the hinge is very loose and it has a bit of 'decay'.If it is good, does anyone know the maker? Thanks

I don't think wear has anything to do with the loose pin fit, just an all around cruddy fake! Brehmer made a very fine quality badge as far as these Luftwaffe GAB's go and if you search this maker over in the Luftwaffe badge section, you will see some nice pieces and when compared to this badge why this is such an obvious fake.
I hope if you bought this Helene you can get your money back?

Can anyone explain the hardware details of these badges, ie what to look for in the pin. Is this pin shape original for the type of badge? When i first looked at this badge i thought that the pin was how they were supposed to look, i thought that the shape was good. I have seen this shape of pin on the EK 1. Also, were 'rivets' used? I prefer feedback that can explain the reasons, the main points to look for in a good badge. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Yes,this is not made by wartime german maker. The most of the wartime badges, particularly the GB badges (that wanted to copy in this case) well detailed beutiful works.
If you have little time for the research about the wartime making methods,(many material in WAF,or from books)you can see the difference, compared this cast fake with the origininal.
