    Strange IAB

    Hello gents,

I´ve been offered this badge and honestly this one is a bit confusing for me. But I would lean to a fake here, pin is definitely a replacement. Design of the eagle reminds me one maker, but dunno which at this moment. I hold this one in hand and it´s a quite heavy piece, not zink. What do you say?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Joseph,

This is a cast reproduction IMO. At first glance it could appear to be a good Cupal example, but your comment about the heavy weight kills it. The poor detail also give it away.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I would agree as well...I completely discounted Cupal since you said the it was heavy and I dont have anything in my files that would show another Vienna design like this one. Then looking at it further the hinge looks odd and the obverse design lacks detail.

        Chris G.

Thanks for your confirmation Tom, Scott and Chris. At least it´s not a crappy fake we are used to see and was worth asking you.

            Hi Joseph

At first glance it looked strange, always a good indicator it is not original.

Along with all the above points, the hinge and look wrong, bad obverse details and if you study the reverse the profile is all over the place..

Definitely a bad one based on the semi hollow "vienna" design imo..

If this one is not in the fakes area, could you please add it.

            regards
            Graeme

It is a cast, brass, copy. I have one identical to it that was given to me some months ago.
