        IMO, it looks like an original (and hard to find) Hermann Aurich IAB.
        Sorry I didn't see about the version (bronze or silver) question before answering about its originality. Congrats on scoring a Fine, Seldom seen IAB.

            Hello Pat,

            in my opinion it's an original IAB made by Hermann Aurich. Unfortunately there's already a lot of zinc pest - maybe it was stored in a bad environment?
            To tell you the grade is really difficult. If I have a look on the catch and the hinge I would say it's a bronze grade, but I'm absolutely not sure!
            As a silver grade you can find them from time to time. As a bronze grade they are more than rare. I know just 2 of them :-)

              An original for me as well, and probably a silver grade judging from what looks like silver finish on the underside of the pin near the tension foot. The rest of the badge looks like heavily patinated bear zinc IMO.

                  Hi again Pat, as far as vasoline is concerned? Personally I would attempt to deter future pesting by applying vasoline liberally (and to cleanup existing deteriation).
                  Some collectors leave overnight, use Q-tips, (watch for lint, etc.) or remove shortly thereafter. It's your call though, and of course others prefer to leave as is.good luck, Pete

                      I vote silver too, but in this condition, imo, the grade is irrelevant..

                      As advised in a previous post, I would use vasoline on this badge.

                        I am giving it a nice Vaseline bath. I will pull it out after 24 hours, clean it off, and take some photos to see if it had any effect.

                            I put the vaseline on it after my last post. It has been about 3 days. Took off the vaseline and here are the pictures.
