Hi all,

I recently got this IAB cheap (sold as a copy), not my field but close at hand it in fact looks like a good cast copy.

Is this a common copy?

Hello,

it's an IAB in Steinhauer & Lück design, but it's made post-war by Souval -->fake. You can see that if you have a look at the catch (typical Souval claw).

Hello Dirk,

you are right, from this perspective it doesn't look like a Souval claw in my opinion. But I've never seen this type of catch on an original S&L IAB and as I remeber this type of catch was used on other post-war badges. I would like to hear other comments on this one.

AGREED, postwar copy. In addition to the reverse hardware, you will notice a lack of definition to the eagle's head on these fakes, in comparison to original S&L badges.

Hi Dirk

The wide flat wire catch is the biggest red flag of an issue with this badge, along with the big circular catch plate. Even the hinge does not look quite correct, and Tom mentioned lack of detail to the head.. Just look at the k98 and sling details.. pretty much non existant.
