    Juncker factory made screwback PAB

    Hi guys

It's not often an army badge collector who's been in there for quite a while finds stuff he was never able see before, anyhow, it happened to me last week

Would like to present to you guys one of the two silver zink Juncker PAB's from the estate of Hauptman Gerhard Baum, Stab Pz. Abt. Feldhernhalle. The PAB which already is a rare zink silver example was finished with a factory made screwback device, as see on some Juncker luftwaffe awards and ek1's.

One will notice the finish loss on the area where the hinge would normally sit, and some finish loss on the bottom of the wreath. I'm still completely puzzled whether this particular example once had something attached or not. The other PAB from Hauptmann Baum is exactly the same as this piece but does not feature any loss of finish on these reverse areas..

I'm very happy with this PAB, and I of course hope you guys all like it as well

    Giel

Not too shabby for a zincer! Nice catch Giel. You mentioned two, any pics of the second one?

                        Hi Giel,

Very nice and surprising find, just lovely wear to this one.

I can certainly see a spot that looks like it once had a hinge, but not really on the catch area.

                        Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Perhaps the loss of finish at the top back of this badge is where an anti-rotation pin may have been affixed at one time.

Thanks for all the responces guys!

@Tim, that thought also crossed my mind, but the other piece found did not at all have this feature, so why would one have received a anti rotation device and the other not?

Biggest mystery for me is that it looks like the set up was taken off after the badge (with screwback cilinder) was finished! This makes me believe the strange areas of both hinge and catch are more a coincidence rather then something to look after.
                              Kind regards,
                              Giel
