possible fake unmarked PAB (possibly AWS 42 if real)

can anyone help me with photos of a real unmarked AWS 42 PAB?
I think I saw one at a shop but it looked fake to me so I passed.

the pin did not have a bevel where it springs off the back of the badge, the way the pin was attached seemed sub-par, and the catch seemed very thin.

it looked similar to this badge in the fakes gallery:

the one in the shop was not bronze, the back seemed vaulted, and it did not have the hollow spots as this fake bronze does.

was it real??? did I pass up a real PAB for $19????

If you do a search at the top of the page, you will come up with quite a few, here is one thread,

What about unmarked with same type hinge attachment?

What did you search? I must be putting in wrong terms...

          I simply searched "AWS PAB"
          Ralph.
P.S. the hinge attachment is similar, it is the catch crimp that is critical.

Were there any with a hinge attachment as pictured but with the catch soldered?(from another maker perhaps?)

The catch did not have the crimping as shown in that link.

I was adding "unmarked" to my search terms...

Can't say that I have ever seen a unmarked Wallpach wether it be good or bad. Pictures would be of great help here.

I wish a picture was possible. Photos weren't allowed in the shop.

I am thinking it was fake as the pin and catch seemed very finicky and the flat end of the pin was not beveled...

My thoughts as well. Also, the finish looks weird and the reverse surface looks soft, as if it were cast. Several red flags here

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

the first pictures in this thread are from the "fakes gallery"

there is no picture of the actual PAB.

the back of the PAB I saw was flat on the back but "curved" (vaulted)

does such a "real" PAB exist?

I agree, you did good by letting it there.
                        Kind regards,
