    PAB´s KWM and A.S. bronze

    Hello,
    two other PAB´s for discussion:

The KWM ist a thick one (37 gr.) and has a dark brown colour.
But it seems that there is no plating underneath the colour. At
the bottom side of the swastika is nearly no colour so that
you can see the silver metal (see photo).

The A.S. has a silver non-magnetic, needle without any finish. The sides
of the needle are only flattened between the hinge and the end.
There´s a visible blob on the tank´s chain (marked in the photo).

    Best regards
    Thorsten

    Hi

The pics are not good at all, but I feel they are originals.

Have you tried using a scanner. You will get straight on shots, without shadows and in focus.

    best regards
    Graeme

      Hi,

I used my older camera with macro function. Sorry for the pics.
I tried my best, but those are the best pics I could get.

              Thanks.

But how can we explain the blob on the chain of the A.S. example?

And what´s the matter with the colour of the KWM? The photo makes
it a little bit brighter. It´s really dark and it looks like a kind of paint. I can´t see a copper or bronze plating.
But otherwise: I can´t wipe it away with aceton.

              Best regards
              Thorsten

The sc blob in the track can be attributed to debris in the die at the time of manafacture. Not uncommon at all. As for the Wurster, remember it is nothing more than a zinc slug. Storage conditions will decide the various shades of bronze or just the gray color of the zinc when the finish has completely evaporated. Considering this is just a zincer it has retained its finish quite well.

                Zinc stinks!

                    Thank you so far.

I´ve seen the KWM in Ph.de Bocks book (No. 1.2.5) and there it looks like a real bronze plating rather than a simple lacquering.

                      Hi

The book shows one example. Check out what Chet explained. Over time they can vary dramatically depending on where they have been..

                      Hope that helps
