Hi William

There are a couple of variations of this "BH Mayer" design, and they do have catches without catch plates. I have seen badges as yours with no catch plate.

Hello William,

Yes! Mayer produced Infantry, Panzer, & General Assault Badges with that style of catch, without a catchplate.
