    Meybauer/Brehmer Heeresflak

    Gents,

I just received the marked version of the badge and so I wanted to post the four known variants in the hope that having them all in one place will help us get closer to a conclusion of who made these very nice army flak badges. They are very hard to find but Marc loaned me two of his and I was able to photo another variant.

Here is a handy diagram to help identify the maker. This is from Marc's article in IMC magazine.

                        Here are some thoughts:

                        Brehmer:

                        1) Made Luftwaffe flaks so perhaps made army as well.
                        2) Eagle design is quite reminiscent of Brehmer eagle on numbered PABs.
                        3) Brehmer made badges for the Heer.

                        Meybauer:

                        1) We have a marked badge. It is only one, but it is more than we have for GB! The marking looks period authentic.
                        2) The hardware fits with Meybauer maybe better than Brehmer.
                        3) Meybauer made badges for the Heer.

I look forward to comments from others. i know this has been discussed before but I hope that having all the variants together will help us see more.

                        Regards,
                        Nick

Here is a mm for an EK1. I will try to get some more for a good comparison but the MM on the first badge looks original to the badge.

                            Hi Nick,

Thanks for putting this together, very nice to have all these variants in one thread to discuss.

My vote goes for Meybauer, 100%. The reverse hardware setup, especially on the zinkers scream Meybauer to me. And the fact that we have one carrying the Meybauer maker mark doesn't hurt either.

The nickel silver example has a repaired catch IMO, so its impossible to say for certainty that the early hardware matches. The obverse design is identical to the zinkers, so that is a firm connection. The hinge reminds me more of Brehmer, but Meybauer used it too so could go either way. Without the correct catch though, we are at a loss. Anyone else have a nickel-silver one of these that is intact?

                            Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Nickel silver?!?!! First I've seen only one of a few Heer Flaks I've seen.

Are the two yours and the others Marc's?
