    GAB Hollowback - Maker?

    Fellow Members,

The General Assault Badge show below was purchased from Herr Niemann a few years ago.

Does anyone know the maker of the award so that I can update my log?

As always, Thanking in advance ...

    Hi Walther,

As far as I'm concerned either Frank & Reif or BH Mayer.

        Hi Tom,

It's the same badge you yourself posted in this thread (posts 27 & 28) and where you came to the conclusion that it most lickely was by the same maker of the first PAB (a hollow F&R) you also posted in the thread.

          Hey Philippe,

I realize that the badge posted by hagwalther is the same type of badge as the one I posted recently. You are probably correct in saying that it is a Frank & Reif, but I am just not ready to swear by it yet.
          Best regards! Tom

And you have good reason not to swear by it, take a look at the L/18 marked GAB in this thread

            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...t=BH+MAYER+GAB

wasn't it Frank & Reif that is supossed not the feature the cut-outs on there GAB's

              Hello Philippe,

If you're , then I am . At least five times more confused. Please let me know when you have it all figured out.

                Hi Tom,

I'm trying, I'm trying but everytime I try to figure it out my head tends to explode. The fact that I now have pics of two hollow buntmetall L/18 marked IAB's clearly coming from different dies but still sharing 98% of their design with F&R doesn't tend to make it easier

Someday we just have to find the missing link somewhere.

Thanks for all the hard work you have put into this hobby Philippe, and for sharing your knowledge with us all. I'm sure that someday we will be able to say with certainty, who made these badges. For the time being, I am content just to say, "nice badge-definitely original". Any further attempt to determine a maker, and my head will explode, scattering my remaining brain cells to oblivion.

                  Best regards! Tom

Edited out by me, because in confusion, I turned the facts around that day. Frank & Reif is indeed the most likely maker, not BH Mayer.
                    Cheers, Frank

                      Dear Frank,

Can't wait for a nice picture comparison study like you did with the Juncker Luft flaks. Take your time this should be interesting
