    Half Moon Gab ok??

    Hello all,

please see this Half moon GAB...is it ok???

What I do not like is:

the head, especially the eye is wrong IMo and the beak/ mouth....not correct for this type.

the accorns on the wreath: I miss details here...the little sparkles on the thicker part of the accorns.
    claws: also slightly different IMO

Otherwise it looks good...so I am a bit confused here

    Thanks for your opinions

First badge is perfectly fine based on the pics. Might even be copper coated. Pics with better lighting will really show how nice this piece will look IMO

Second one is a fake IMO

Hi... The GAB that started this thread is currently for sale on a popular, but "chancy" auction site. It is original, and, like RK GABs has slightly different "looks" to the eagle's expression -in this case the eye area. The main thing to look at, is the overall appearance and hardware components, which are original to this "unknown maker" IMO... --Personally, I don't see a richly applied copper undercoat, if one was applied at all. I like to "see" some copper showing through if that was the case. I know the finish "looks" well preserved, but where you can see the base metal (zinc) is not followed by any copper showing from those pics....

        --Rgds, Ken

Agreed, pictures force you to take a chance on the copper coating and finish

            Hi Martin......

......As Chad and Ken have stated the first badge shown is a original GAB by a unknown manufacturer. The second badge is FAKE.

Absolutely! All collectors, please take note of my comments and Chad's follow-up statement... It may save you some money, or, at the very least, beg you to ask for better pictures --before you send your money as "gift"!

                --Kind Regards, Ken
