Must be a later plated zinc badge and not the earlier solid tombak badge yet still very nice.

      Hi Alex,

Gorgeous Wurster in un-upgradable condition. Just lovely.

Certainly looks like a tombak example to me, not zinc. Can you give us a weight of this one Alex, that should solve the case whether its a zinker or not.

      Thanks

      Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Yes unfortunatelly it's a small area of missing finish on the eagle's chest. Almost invisible with naked eyes but the flash shows it very well.
        Hi Alex

Thanks for the reply. There looks to be a few smaller areas of missing finish also on the high points revealing a silvery colour. This would be strange for a tombak badge imo. Maybe the flash makes it look silver when it actually is not?

The weight would be interesting to see, but might not be conclusive because some zincers weigh in similar to the tombaks..

        best regards
        Graeme

I now believe this badge to be tombak as the indentation of the pin stop below the hinge shows the underlying metal quite clearly and it certainly seems to be brass and not zinc in color.

Graeme, Tom, the weight of the badge is 37.45 gr. Here is a shot under the normal lamp light. Imo it's tombak without any doubts.

Great find, additional pics definitely show it is original through and through

                    Hi Alex

Thanks for posting a conclusive pic It always looked to be a tombak example, but for me when I see something that looks strange, I have to ask.

                    These are great badges.

                    best regards
