    Recent arrival...unmarked Luft Pilot

From my first days of collecting I wanted to get my hands on a pilot badge, but due to bad luck and cost factors I was unable to get my hands on one to add to the collection. The long wait is over as this little guy flew in yesterday, and I couldn't be happier.

An unmarked tombak version that is not in perfect condition. The catch is missing and there is some wear to the badge, but it is mine

And lastly a close up of this proud eagle.

I have to add a big public thank you to Joe D'Errico for this. What started as a simple question via a PM has turned into a highlight of my collection.

        Hi Al,

Congratulations on your first bird! A nice honest example! Watch out, if you get hooked they'll breed like rabbits!

          Hello Al,

Very nice Pilot Badge. Congratulations. Great detail to the eagle's feathers. Use to own one identical to yours, but I sold it in 1986 when I was buying my house. The only ones I own now are two unmarked zinkers, and a B&NL.
          Best regards! Tom

If your first Pilot's Badge turned out to be a repro though (like mine) it's worth forgetting. Good idea for a thread though - post your first (genuine!) Pilot's Badge.

                              Nice badge Al!!

I remember my first LW badge...it was an Assmann Observer with some damage..I think a broken catch, I forget exactly...bought it from a stamp dealer for 15 dollars..I wish I still had it.

My first pilot's badge was a zincer..forget if it was marked or not, bought it with some other badges that were vet bring backs...wish I still had that one too...there are some items you get rid of that you regret getting rid of..but then something else comes along and you forgot about what you got rid of..oh well, still wish I had my first LW badges.
