Early Wurster PAB?

I need some help with this one? I think its a painted 1.2.3, but is it a fake? or ground dug? or real? I can return it so fire away. Some of the paint is missing on the fender.

First I've ever seen. As you know, zincers aren't known to be hollow, which this looks like at first glance. But looking at the high points, it looks like the tombak has that reddish tint that tombak can sometimes turn under high wear. I kind of like the detail. Curious what others say. Id take a gamble on this if the price was right

I can see where Chad's coming from, in that the aging on your badge make it appear as though the base metal to be zinc. I can see reddish hues on the higher areas too, so IMO, it's tombac based --which is normal for this maker's hollowbacks. Not all badges, even tombac ones, age the same way -which is why, over time, they take on a character of their own.

I also think it is tombak, and agree that the ground dug makes the base metal more reddish in color. I have seen this a few times on some ground-dug Juncker pilot badges, where were also dark red like this after coming out of the ground and being cleaned up.

Great, thank you guys! I felt it was a good badge I want to make sure wasn't a fake one that have been worked over. I know that the Hero makes a pretty good Fakes of this maker. I'll be keeping it.

Hi Dennis,

An interesting pab for sure, I would say tombak example possibly ground dug, only thing that puts me off a little is the pitting around the headlights not normally seen on tombak examples?

Thank you for the replies, The more I handle this badge I see that the surface corrosion is wearing a little. The weight is 14.37 grams. How much do those hero fix way, Does anyone have any idea?

This Wurtser still holds very much finish. Interesting example!
