    Thanks Philippe,

(The 50 Euro is in the mail .)

What I have always wondered, according to the available reference books, why are some 75/100 wreaths gold [as I thought they were supposed to be], and why are some matte gray? There must be an answer. As I recall, Pieter feels the non-gilt wash type are very acceptable. I know period photos exist (color) where the wreaths are most definately color. WHY the two types.

    Thanks,
    Mark

      Hi Mark,

Very good question but any answer from my part would be pure speculation.

However I'm just in the proces of doing some more research in to the cut-out grass PAB's and this subject is an official item on the agenda of the next reunion of the veterans of the 5 Panzerregiment that will take place form sept 17-19.

I was just preparing another letter to the president of the "kameradenkreis" en maybe it would be interesting to include this question too. I see what I can do and if I recieve any interesting information on the subject I'll share it on the forum.

        Hi All,

Philippe is not the badge posted the same as the one posted by myself as the hinge to edge distance in perticular is the same on both badges [as pointed out by Frank] as well as other details.

          Hi Merdock,

That's possible but that positioning for me isn't one of the criteria I'm focusing on.

Like I wrote above I'm far from being done with these badges. If everything works out as planned I should be able to do some more comparing, with the badges in hand, between the questional 75 & 100 JFS PAB's and originals.

If the differences between the good ones and the copies are indeed so minute as I think they are than I begin to understand why there has been so much hessitation in to past to clearly point them out.

Merdock could you do me a favour and try to post another picture of the catch crimp on your badge. In fact what I would like to see is the same picture as you posted in post 6 but with the pin out of the way at a 45 degree angle so the catchbase becomes visible.

            Many thanks in advance.
