      Hi ,

In response to imperial quest ,i did not see the damage that you pointed out but if you look at the arm of the swastika nearest it can be seen to have a horizontal scrape that continues into the wing damaging it,will take a pic.

        Hmmm...

Yes, I see that also. The part I was referring to would be on the bottom part-it just seems rough. Then again, it could just be the angle.

.... and fotos, I'm sorry, but IMO this badge is a well done reproduction.

If this is a repro, it is truly scary how good these crooks are getting!!!
Although......I guess the feet on the eagle do sort of give it away. I mean, the Germans were very meticulous about almost all their military awards, so it seems to me that a high level/grade award like this would be w/o blemish or flaw.

                  Hi merdock,

I was talking about THIS hinge to edge distance, Ivan once pointed out.

                    Hi Merdock,

Thanks for posting the reverse shot.

Just yesterday I was able to handle an identical badge and really had a hard time figuring out if I would pay a couple of thousend euros to add it to my collection. Not only are these badges very well made but for me the biggest problem is that originals are so rare that 99% of the collectors just don't have a reference base to judge these awards.

However the person that showed met the JFS 75 PAB also had an RK 25 GAB to show me. That badge was a known fake. Only when putting the GAB and PAB next to each other it slowly started to dawn on me that something was wrong with the 75 also. Based upon the way the two badges were constructed, hinge crimp, pin, catch, catch crimp, rivets it was obvious to me that both the RK GAB and the JFS PAB were made in exactly the same way.

Since one was JFS marked and the other RK that was definitiv proof for me that something was wrong. Even though the setup used by these to makers is very close for me it's impossible for two different makers to come up with a 100% match. At the same moment I was looking at these two badges I had an unmarked original JFS 50 PAB to compare the set-up to and than things became even more obvious.

So to make a long story short I also believe that the 75 that started this thread is a highend copie that has been arround for quite some time an is residing in quite a few older collections together with RK 25 & 50 GAB's made by the same bad guys.

If anybody has 75 or 100 JFS marked PAB's I would be quite happy to test what I think I learned yesterday. I only would need a good reverse scan or pic with the pin closed. If I got it right there really is no need to worry about these copies anymore. If I got it wrong it's back to the study table again.

                        For consideration

                        Gentlemen,

Posted is an original '75' tank battle badge. It meets with all the specifications recognized by the experts and, as it is in my collection, passes my inspection criteria. I will post the reverse shortly. I am not trying to be 'coy' as another member has implied. Merely take a look at the strike of the wreath and the charging tank. This is what we would all consider German quality.

                                Hi Mark,

Although I feel I'm still far from finishing my research on these badges (for some reason it's a bit difficult to find enough reference material ) based upon my current knowledge I would give your badge tumbs up and I'm sure Pieter will back me up here.

If I ever change my mind you'll be the first to know.
