    Please opinion IAB Wiedmann

    Hello guys,

I would like to show you my Wiedmann IAB in silver with a special reverse setup (barrel hinge with a flat catch soldered over a round plate).
I already have some positive opinions from other forums, but unfortunately also some opinions from some IAB-specialists that the catch is replaced.
What's your opinion about the badge? Is the catch replaced?

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards
    Sven

Looks good to me as well. I donĀ“t see any indication of a repair.

              Hi guys,

              thanks for your answers!!!
Can you tell me why there is no finish left on the catch?
              Thanks in advance

              Best regards

                  Hi Sven,

The catch also looks good to me, since I don't really see any signs of new solder. And the solder I do see at the base appears to have the same silver finish on it as the rest of the badge.

However, the rest of the catch looks very un-natural looking in that it has virtually no silver finish on it, but the badge itself has 100% finish intact. And all the tool marks on it suggest that it has been worked over a bit. Perhaps it was bent out of shape somehow, and someone put it back to the correct shape with some rough pliers.

So based on these pics, I tend to think the catch is good and original to the badge, but a bit messed with.

                  Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                    Hi Thomas,

                    thanks for your opinion!!!
                    Much appreciated!!!

The idea with the rough pliers would be a good explanation for the tool marks. Thanks for this advice.

                    Best regards
