Could this be a "half moon" or Assmann GAB?

Great idea with the playdough Don! Looks like it made a very good impression, but I am still unsure of the design. I am pretty sure it is not an Assmann, the inner wing feathers don't seem to line up. Same with the "half moon" GAB, the head seems different to me.

The design looks familiar for sure, but still not quite sure which one it is. There seems to be a lack of detail in the leaves of the wreath, so perhaps this was an intermediate die, that was used to make another die, and not the exact one used to produce the badges themselves.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Spray paint it silver. Than should bring out details and make it closer to what we usually look at.....

Be sure to not get the paint too thick... Do it at a distance and lightly a little at a time to not fill in the details. I am unsure if paint will stick to playdough. Another casting could be made with a light spraying of the die cavity with pam, to keep it from sticking, then maybe blot it with a paper towel to remove excess pam but have a coat very thin and evenly coated , then pour in some plaster of paris, and after it sets , remove it from the mold with a putty knife. Then (blot)wash off the pam with soapy water ,then dry so paint will stick , then paint it, That is...IF paint won't stick to the playdough . I couldn't imagine this die not matching any badges known to have been produced.

Before you do that, I would roll out the playdough again and try to get it as flat as possible with no creases in it. Then make the impression again.

                  What about some solder?

                  Pour it into the mould.

                  Would show more detail?

You could tweak the coloring with photoshop, but it seems nobody likes it now. I only have a few of these badges of the many makers who made them, and those who specialize in them will know the most , so maybe it is for making fakes....be sure to check the fakes section to see if there is a match ,as I cannot access that area.It will still makes a good door stop for your war room, and once you get the final word, and if condemned ,you could just blow it out on epier where the rest of the crapola gets dumped. Still a interesting thread.

IMO, nothing more than a conversational paperweight. Does not look legit to me.
