    Unmarked General Assault Badge Opinions

Hi Guys, Here is another badge I would like your help on. Is this a good badge.I have done a search on these badges but am still not sure. If it is good can someone tell me who made it? Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi John
Based on the eagle head and the hinge and catch altogether, this is a good and a rare '4 rivets' style GAB!!

    Nice catch!!!

Here is my IAB from the same maker for you to make comparison on the pin setup!

      Hi John

The GAB I post here is also from the same maker; same eagle head design, but different pin setup

The GAB that started this thread is a reproduction and not original imo.

            Hi Daniel

I think the problem might be the quality of the pic from the thread starter.

Better pictures will be helpful, however, I can't see any problem on this example, I am listening to yours opinions on this.....

            Cheers
            Eric

A good semi-hollow 4 rivet. Some rub to the high areas and talons, but a real one.

Yes, this is a good and worn 4 rivets GAB, IMO.

Sorry guys, the badge in question is 100 percent wrong and definitely not original.

I am not 100% sure on this one

I'm sorry if I don't see the 100% wrong here Dan. The hardware and placement look correct. It has a couple flaws, near and around the hardware, that is on known originals. The base metal looks like zinc, as it should be. The obverse, appears to be worn on the high areas, but other than that, I can't fault it. These can have a flat stock catch, but round wire is more commonly found. So 100%??? **It is a later variant IMO, opposed to the earlier piece that Will has shown, so subtle differences are to be expected. The RK GAB evolved similarly as the war progressed.

I also own an example of such unknown maker #10 with rivets and see nothing wrong with this one.
