    IAB identification...

I came across this photo of a Knight's Cross holder on ebay and his badge is identifiable within atleast a couple makers --maybe just one! Now, I'll start by crossing out Carl Wild because the eagle head swoops uo to high. That leaves well over 60+ other possibilities, but you'll find this thread may have a strange twist. Anyone want to take a shot, feel free. I've narrowed it to one.
P.S.: I've enlarged the IAB in the photo to make this easier.

    Easier

    Hi Ken

It has some similarities to JB&Co, but that's a first quick shot, and I am not convinced it quite fits

    cheers

I kind of did a botchy job on this on another Forum, but JB&Co was initially my 1st choice after reviewing all archived, including Carl Wild -whose eagle head looks to be the profile of the one pictured. But, the eagle head from where the wing & chest meet, to the top of the head are too short on the one pictured to be a "Wild" piece. Then, to make things more complicated, I came across a "Deschler mutant", which could also be the one in the picture. I found this mutation on another site . As you can see, the "badge identification" became a "two-in-one" task. The mutant is a cross between a Deschler and a "later solid Juncker" --and certainly not the "missing leaf". Jeezus, I hope you guys are still following. Anyway, here's some pics to help this thread further, I hope.

          And here's the "Deschler mutation".

Interesting puzzle Ken. Keep in mind pics can distort reality at times, especially when enlarged.

Ken, I suspect many are not following.

Although names such as "mutant Deschler" are mentioned from time to time, they more often than not, confuse the whole situation.

            cheers

Hi Graeme. The "mutant" pictured from another site has a wreath like Deschler, but an eagle head like the "latter Juncker design". It's truly a "cross-between" the two maker's. Anyway, both JB&Co and the "mutant" have that bend in the rifle --where my arrows indicate, and, the heads on the eagles don't rise quite as high up, like the Carl Wild ISAs do. I'm leaning toward the mutant though, and, I only became "aware" after perusing some sites earlier today. Before that, I didn't even know they existed even though I may have owned one at one time.

                Hi Ken

So, could quite easily be a completely different unknown maker or at least we are not sure which maker it is connected to.

Anyway this thread started out as trying to identify the IAB in the pic, so possibly the type yo have mentioned. Difficult to be 100% sure with this photo though imo

                cheers

Here's a couple more pics that I managed to locate from another source. IMO, an unknown maker as well, as it shares properties of both the "latter Juncker" and "Deschler" designs.
